Remove an unwanted object from a photo
Get rid of a photobomber, a power line or a date stamp. Content-Aware Fill fills the gap using the surrounding picture, and the healing tools clean up small spots.
Remove an object No sign-up. Files never leave your device.
How to remove an object
- Click Remove an object and open your photo. The Lasso tool is selected.
- Draw loosely around the object, leaving a little margin.
- Choose Edit › Content-Aware Fill, check the preview, and click OK.
- Touch up any seams with the Spot Healing Brush (J) or the Clone Stamp (S), then export.
Tips
- For small spots and blemishes, skip the selection and just click them with the Spot Healing Brush.
- Work on a duplicate layer so you can mask out any mistakes.
Good to know
Content-Aware Fill is patch-based. It is excellent on skies, grass, walls and texture, and weaker where it would need to invent complex structure such as a face behind the object.
