Terms of Use
Effective October 15, 2026
These terms cover Kiln's website, editors and Kiln Cloud accounts. By using them you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.
The service
Kiln is free. The editors are open-source software (MIT OR Apache-2.0, see About) that run in your browser. Kiln Cloud is an optional free account that stores your projects; each account has 2 GB of storage. We may change features or limits, and will tell signed-in users before a change that reduces what they can store.
Your content
What you make and upload stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, back it up, and show it to you and to anyone you share it with. You're responsible for having the rights to what you upload, and you must not use Kiln for anything illegal, to infringe others' rights, to share malware, or to abuse or overload the service. Media found through the Images and Media panels keeps its own licence, shown with each result.
Accounts
You need to be at least 13 to have an account. Keep your Google or GitHub sign-in secure; you're responsible for what happens in your account. You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or put the service or other people at risk.
No warranty
Kiln is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Keep your own copies of important work: in any editor, File › Save keeps a copy on your computer. To the extent the law allows, Kiln isn't liable for lost data, lost profits, or indirect damages arising from using the service.
