Add subtitles to a video
Most social video is watched muted, so captions matter. Type them on the timeline or import an existing .srt file, then burn them into the picture or export a sidecar file.
Add subtitles No sign-up. Files never leave your device.
How to add subtitles
- Click Add subtitles, import your video and put it on the timeline.
- In the Text panel's Captions tab, choose Import captions file… to bring in an .srt, or Create new caption track and then Add caption at playhead for each line.
- Style the font, size, colour and background in the caption properties (the Captions and Graphics workspace puts everything in one place).
- Press Ctrl/Cmd+M (File › Export › Export) to open the Export page: tick Burn Captions Into Video for social media, or use Export captions… in the Text panel to get an .srt for YouTube.
Good to know
Automatic speech-to-text is optional and off by default in the browser build, so captions are typed or imported.
