Convert text to outlines

Printers and laser cutters often need text converted to paths, so the font no longer matters.

How to convert text to outlines

  1. Click Outline text, then open your file or type your text.
  2. Select the text object with the Selection tool.
  3. Choose Type › Create Outlines. The letters become editable shapes.
  4. Export as SVG, PDF or EPS.

Tips

  • Keep an un-outlined copy on a hidden layer in case you need to change the wording later.
