How to make a YouTube thumbnail
- Click Start a 1280×720 thumbnail. A blank canvas opens at the right size.
- Drag in a background image and your photo. Cut yourself out with Select Subject.
- Add 3–5 words with the Type tool, large and bold, with a Stroke and Drop Shadow from Layer › Layer Style.
- Export as JPG or PNG under 2 MB with File › Export As.
Tips
- Check it small: zoom out to 20% and see whether the text is still readable.
- Save a PSD to reuse your layout as a template.
