Brighten a dark photo and fix contrast

How to brighten a photo
- Click Brighten a photo and open your image. Brightness/Contrast opens.
- Raise Brightness until the midtones look right, then add a little Contrast.
- If shadows are still too dark, use Image › Adjustments › Shadows/Highlights to open them up without blowing out the sky.
- For precise control use Levels (drag the black and white points to the edges of the histogram) or Curves.
Tips
- Use Layer › New Adjustment Layer versions so you can tweak or remove them later.
- Vibrance adds colour to dull areas without oversaturating skin.
