Open a PSD file

PSD is Photoshop's layered format. Kiln Photo opens it with every layer editable, so you don't need a Photoshop subscription to view or change a file someone sent you.

How to open it

  1. Click Open a PSD and choose the .psd or .psb file.
  2. Show, hide or edit layers in the Layers panel; double-click text layers to edit them.
  3. Save back as PSD with File › Save As, or export PNG/JPG with File › Export As.

About the format

PSD (Photoshop Document) stores layers, masks, adjustment layers, type, paths, channels and colour profiles. PSB is the same format for files over 2 GB or 30,000 pixels.
